Since 1925 the National Capital Band has been The Salvation Army’s musical ambassador in the nation’s capital and the surrounding region. The band is attached to the headquarters of the Potomac Division of The Salvation Army in Washington, D.C.
The band’s players are committed members of Salvation Army corps (churches) in the Metro Washington D.C. area, who volunteer their time and talents to the NCB. In addition to its weekly rehearsals, the band performs at over 20 events annually.
The band has traveled extensively in the U.S. and has conducted international campaigns in Jamaica, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Russia, Ukraine, France, Switzerland, and most recently, Brazil (November 2022).
It has also produced eleven recordings, the most recent of which are a Christmas recording “Let Us Adore Him” (2010), and a recording of music written by NCB members entitled “A Musical Offering” (2014).
